20 June 2018 – A consultative meeting with key stakeholders on the financing of environmental protection at the local level was held today in the House of Human Rights and Democracy in Belgrade.
The meeting was held within the framework of the CSOnnect Institutional Grant, organised by the European Policy Centre (CEP), leading organisation of one of the consortium of the grantees. The meeting was organised in cooperation with the Ecological Centre Habitat, one of the organisations in this consortium.
The meeting was attended by representatives of civil society organisations, representatives from the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the State Audit Institution (DRI) and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (SCC).
The introductory speech was given by Milan Vujović, Project Manager at CEP and coordinator of this project, while Stefan Šipka, CEP researcher and Dejan Maksimović, researcher from the Environmental Center Habitat, presented an overview of the current situation regarding financing of the environmental protection at the local level, since this consortium has also researched this topic in the previous year, as well as proposals and concrete documents of the research team to improve the financing system in this field. Following the presentation, an open discussion with the participants on the proposed solutions and documents was held.
The institutional grant is funded by the CSOnnect programme implemented by the Regional Environmental Center (REC). The program is financed by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
