Svrha ovog CEP sižea je da otkrije motivacione faktore koji utiču na nivo podrške članstva u EU u Srbiji primenom multivarijacione regresije. Pored toga, u okviru ovog sižea se razvija i niz preporuka za izradu komunikacione strategije i drugih inicijativa koje bi bile usmerene ka jačanju podrške građana za članstvo u EU.

Iako i lično finansijsko stanje i nacionalna ekonomija imaju snažan uticaj na građane kada je u pitanju podrška članstvu u EU, u Srbiji nacionalna ekonomija ima prednost. Dodatno, što liberalnije vrednosti osoba poseduje – otvorenija je za promene, manje religiozna i lakše prihvata druge – tolerantna je, verovatnije je da će podržati članstvo Srbije u EU. Uprkos činjenici da ovaj i drugi pokretači imaju umeren značaj, istraživanje CEP-a je pokazalo da građani prioritizuju stanje nacionalne ekonomije u odnosu na sve drugo. Anketa je zasnovana na uzorku od 1202 učesnika iz Srbije (bez Kosova*), putem CATI (telefonska anketa). Uzorak je bio nasumičan, stratifikovan na proporcionalan način u zavisnosti od veličine regiona, opštine, i tipa naselja u okviru opštine.
