The topic of this final conference within the CSOnnect institutional grant, with a title Environmental Protection and the Road to EU Membership: What are the Eco-financing Challenges in Local Communities? is Serbia’s EU accession process in relation to negotiating Chapter 27 (environmental protection). The debate will centre around the existing challenges in financing environmental protection at local level. This event will feature a brief presentation of results from the CSOnnect institutional grant, as well as the conducted research on financing environmental protection at local level.
The event will be discussed by Joachim Waern, Deputy Head of Mission of Sweden in Serbia, Goran Trivan, Minister of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia, Dušan Vujović, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Serbia, Sem Fabrizi, Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Tanja Miščević, Head of Negotiating Team for Accession of the Republic of Serbia to the EU, and Radoslav Sretenović, President of the State Audit Institutions. The conference will be moderated by Srđan Majstorović, Chairman of the CEP Governing Board.
The research will be jointly presented by our researcher Stefan Šipka and the researcher of the Ecological Center Stanište Dejan Maksimović. Ruža Radović, Country Office Director from Regional Environmental Center in Serbia, will also address the participants.
The European Policy Centre (CEP) and our partners (Environmental Centre Habitat, Environmental Movement Odžaci, Local Environmental Movement Smederevo, and Business and Economy Center) have used the institutional grant within the CSOnnect programme, which is implemented by the Regional Environmental Center (REC), and funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
