European Policy Centre, with the support of the project “Support to the EU accession negotiation in Serbia”, implemented by the government of the Federal Republic of Germany through Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)GmbH, invites you to attend a panel discussion on the topic: “Do we have the human resources for Europe? Relevance of civil servants in the European integration process”.

The aim of the event is to initiate a discussion on the challenges of retaining high quality civil servants working in the field of European integration/management of EU funds, as well as on the possibilities for establishing and implementing a policy which could enhance their work motivation and overall job satisfaction. Panellists will be prof. Dr. Tanja Miščević, Head of the Negotiating Team for Accession of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union, Holger Schroeder, Head of Cooperation of The Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia, Jelena Stojović, State Secretary of Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Serbia, Milena Lazarević, Programme Director of European Policy Centre (CEP), Jürgen Schmid, representative of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The policy study Towards a smart staff retention policy for the sustainable EU integration of Serbia will be presented at the event. This study resulted from a comprehensive and methodologically robust research project conducted in response to the identified problem of an increased outflow of civil servants employed in the organisational units in charge of EU affairs, including the management of EU and international development funds. The research was conducted by the European Policy Centre, under the auspices of the project “Support to the EU accession negotiation in Serbia”, with the additional financial help of the Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Unit (SIPRU).
